Sidewinder hardware support is much clearer since the McAfee purchase of Secure Computing. Hardware is now covered as part of your support contract, and for the same duration. You can upgrade to same business day hardware support, too, which I don't believe was an option under Secure Computing.

Subject: [Sidewinder] A heads up to Dell manufactured "Appliance" Owners

Just found out this week, that the service contract I purchased through
a VAR does NOT cover my hardware on my Dell 1750 POS Sidewinder
Appliance. While I paid $7500 for a line item listed as "SecureSupport
Direct Sidewinder G2 Appliance, Model 5XX/250 " The appliance part
does not appear to include the hardware. Imagine my surprise. If you
have one of these so called early appliances, I strongly suggest you
check NOW to find out what your support includes.

Needless to say I won't be dealing with Aurora again, and guess I'll
have to do an RFP for my upgrade this year instead of just
automatically buying another pair of Sidewinders. Well thank goodness
at least my Cisco Smartnet coverage is always exactly what I expect.
