[Sidewinder] Alias assignment to an interface

Recently we have assigned an alias ip address to our external interface.
Sidewinders warned us to reboot the system. We did not reboot the system and
the alias ip address is working fine for us. However now we have a fear that
it might create some other problems. Please let me know what are your
experiences with alias

We are trying to avoid the rebooting process as our firewalls are working in
cluster environment and it take a while before they are synchronized.
